    Pardon the simplicity of my question, but when viewing image documents with Vista I can see small check boxes appear next to each picture. I assume this is used to select more than one document at a time, but I haven’t figured out how to do that yet. Also if there is a quick key to select all pictures at once that would be helpful. (Ctrl+A works for Word documents, but not pictures.)

    Do you get this on the desktop icons?

    I swear this is the easiest thing to fix, I just wish I could remember where it was. I've completely been through Control Panel and I can't find. This is really starting to make me annoyed. Maybe it's just because I'm using 7. I would've thought it would be the same.

    The checkboxes can be turned off and on under folder options in explorer. The checkboxes come in handy when you are using a tablet.

    You can hit Ctrl A to select all files in the explorer.

    Well yeah, it's on the desktop too, but when you have the picture files open I can't figure out how to select more than one at a time. Ctrl+A didn't seem to work. I'm assuming it has something to do with those check boxes.

    When you have them open? I'm talking about when you are looking at a bunch of pictures, or any files in a folder in Explorer.

    Ahh, I see what I did wrong. I guess Ctrl+A does work, but not with what I was trying to do it. I guess I have a bad habit of organizing pictures through Paint and then clicking on Open to show all the files. Ctrl+A won't work that way, but if I try to just open the pictures folder and do it there then it will work.

    Glad that worked out. Why would you organize pictures in Paint?

    Just because I save images there, and usually open files through there if I want to look at something. It's just what I'm used to using for accessing pictures. For the most part, at least from my experience, you can still organize images pretty easily either way. Besides this little issue mentioned here I haven't had any other problems.

    <shudder>

    Do yourself a big favour and try FastStone or Irfanview.
