I'm looking for a program like Google Calender which is perfect but I'd like to have one that can work offline when I am not connected to the internet. So far, I always list things to do in a day or future days in a .txt file but it gets messy. I'd love a calender I can have on my laptop to hold this type of info.

    Any suggestions?

I used to have the same problem as you. My solution:
    http://www.crawler.com/products/desktop-notes.aspx

It's NOT a calendar program. It's just a very very simple, lightweight program that keeps post-it notes on your desktop. I just write down EVERYTHING on these notes and I never forget to do a thing.

I don't know, I usually like to plan for 3-5 days at a time (my life is overwhelming for me) and I don't feel post-its would keep things tidy like Google Calender does.

    Ill give Sunbird a try.

How do I move more than 1 event down a couple hours in Sunbird? I'm importing my dates from Google Calender but they all start at 5AM x_x.

This doesn't exactly cater to your needs, but I used Rainlendar (with custom skin) as my offline reminder. All the useful information is presented to me first thing I see in the morning: http://xs226.xs.to/xs226/08164/desktopofthemonth999.png

I entered all the test/important dates into Google Calendar when I received all my syllabuses. I then exported it from GCal and imported it into Rainlendar. You can set reminders or the time before it becomes listed in the desktop. I typically give myself 3-4 weeks. If something changes or needs to be added, you can add it manually into Rainlendar.

I use windows calendar. It comes installed on your system already. I see you have business, not sure if you would have it then, but it does allow for the import/export of calendar events and is compatible with google calendar.

Windows Calendar only comes with Vista, not XP.

All these extra programs are nice, but still can't match Windows Calendar. One feature that I like about Windows Calendar is that you don't have to have the program open. You will still get the reminder even if the program is not open because the integration it has with Windows. Not even Outlook can match that.

Okay then elaborate what you meant by phone/pda. Sounds tedious though.

My PDA runs Windows Mobile and is my primary repository of Tasks, Calendar, and Contacts (and eMail if I wanted to). It is all kept in sync with Outlook and my PC. However, my PDA is portable, whereas my PC is not (well, it is a notebook, so it is, just not as). If you wanted a converged device, there are plenty of WM touchscreen phones out there, too.

Browse through my website under the PDA and PPC sections for more details.

It may or may not work for you, but having the data in two places (think backup and recovery) is a nice side benefit.

There are a number of permutations and alternatives; however, the constant that remains is the PDA.

    ...

Oh well. Guess it's a better answer than advising me to go out and buy a PDA to find out... Thanks.

    :)

Now. What is this "google" you speak of? And can I "google search" the "google" ?
