My System Volume Information folder (the folder with system restore points), for whatever reason, has a size of 14.7 GB, but has a size on disk of just 9.72 GB. I thought the size on disk always had to be greater than or equal to the total size? How might this be possible? Or is the size on disk metric just not accurate on the System Volume Information folder?

According to the Advanced Attributes, no, it isn't (the compress contents to save disk space box is not checked). Though System Volume Information is a somewhat unusual folder in itself, so that doesn't convince me it isn't.

System restore likes to reserve a percentage of the drive, it just hasn't used it all yet.
