Hey all, i've been having an issue with my skype randomly freezing up and just giving me a spinning grey circle every now and then. The only solution to this so far is to restart the computer. Skype was working fine in windows vista but after reformatting and doing a fresh install of windows 7, i keep running into this.

Here is a post on the skype forums about it:
    http://forum.skype.com/index.php?showtopic=463801&st=0&gopid=2478511&#entry2478511

just thought I might post this here in case anyone happens to have a solution or is having the same issue and can't figure out if others are having it too.

    Cheers : )

Yea I don't think this is a Windows 7 issue per se - it works fine in Windows 7 64-bit for me. Maybe a bad webcam driver or something?

I read a post where 3.6 works with windows 7 if you're having issues like I am. I uninstalled my 4.2, and installed 3.6 and it works perfectly. So at least I have a working skype for now. In case anyone else comes across this particular problem. Cheers!

The new version, 4.2 caused problems with my windows 7 32 bit. I reverted back to 4.1 and its working fine.
I think the new version is buggy, will wait for updates before going for the new version.

I use Skype 4.1 on Win 7x64 and sometimes it just hangs and I had to restart my system too.
However, the problem was my webcam, Logitech C500. If set in skype the Logitech Mic as input, it crashed sometimes. If I used my soundcard instead, skype ran fine.
