Hey guys. I just reformatted my HP-Dv5 laptop, but whenever i start it up i get 3 programs that crash instantaneously: Skype, Steam and Load MMDriver. Trying to start Skype and Steam after start-up doesn't work either. They just crash instantly. My OS is Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit, and it is fully up to date. I have noticed that uninstalling .Net Framework 3.5 resolves this problem, but since i have various programs (such as ATI Tray Tools) that run on .Net Framework 3.5 I don't want to do that. Has anyone ever had a similar problem or a solution to this problem? Any answers are appreciated

Do these crashes produces any error dialogues? What do they say?

Microsoft Online Crash Analysis -
Hi, I was having the exact same problem last night, tryed about 50 different system restores, and I realized that this crash would happen after I installed my graphics drivers. Tried multiple things and nothing seemed to work.
When my windows would load, mmloader would crash and then multiple apps like windows live messenger, steam, origin and ect would crash. Even firefox.
This morning I realized that once I would do a system restore and then install my graphics drivers... they would install really quick and the screen wouldn't even flicker... like it normaly does.
I used driversweeper many times and rebooted, reinstalled nothing would work.
What finally worked for me was doing the system restore, installing the ati drivers, then rebooting, then once rebooted without cleaning with driversweeper, I reinstalled the 11.10 (beta drivers) on top of my 11.9 install without cleaning anything.
Magicly, the screen flickered this time.. and it actually took a while to install.
Now after several reboots everything is working fine agaijn.. no more crashes...
hope this helps.
I am really mind bogled as to what could have caused this... but lets just say... my next pc is going to be nvidia only... -
Nevermind, I just got the same problem after rebooting....
It seems that the problem gets solved if I install my drivers again...
Like I will reboot, windows loads, bunch of apps crash, install drivers, then pen crashed apps and they work...
dunno whats going on... it slike the computer is dumping the display drivers everytime I boot -
Is this on a fresh install? Are you using HP's video drivers or going to the GPU manufacturer?
I'd recommend using the latest drivers from Nvidia/ATI and then seeing the problem persists. -
Hardwarestore, I have figured out my problem.
And this is not a fluke like the last time, I actually rebooted my system 10 consecutive times to see if it would reappear, and it hasn't.
I did some research in my registries and looked at what major events happened in the system restore and I noticed that although I had done multiple things, I had only actually installed 1 new software.
That would be the Asus gamer OSD.
I went to look at some forums and discussion about the software and realized some people were reporting similar issues once it was installed.
So I decided to unistall it and try my luck. So I installed my video drivers, uninstalled Asus Gamer OSD and rebooted....
No more crashes....
Reboot again.....
No more crashes...
----Repeat 10 times------
So hardwarestore... do you have Asus Gamer OSD installed? If so, I would try getting rid of it.
Skype, Steam and Load MMDriver has stopped working.
