I have a ThinkPad R61, running Vista 32. I've only had it for about two weeks.

I had this problem before and after a clean install, so I don't know what the issue is. When I put the laptop in sleep mode manually or automatically, the little sleep "moon" light doesn't come on. The plug-in light and the battery light remain lit, but everything else gets powered off. It stays like that and I can't bring it out of sleep. I read this is a pretty common problem in Vista but I can't really find a fix that works for me. Any ideas?

My battery also only charges to 95%. It reads "plugged in and not charging" and just stays at 95%. Any ideas? I am not using any ThinkVantage software either.

Also, when I try to add a printer shared from an XP machine, I keep getting spooler service errors even though the spooler service is running on my machine.

Maybe your battery is already getting worn out?

I'm sorry I can't help you with your sleep thing though - I'm using Vista Ultimate 32-bit and it works fine for me =/

I don't think that the 95% charge means the battery is getting warn out. The battery should still charge to 100%, it's just that the maximum decreases over time. But it should still be going to 100%.
My notebook has 15% wear on its battery but it still charges to 100%. Note that I use XP, so maybe Vista just does it differently.

I thougt that Vista had an option to charge the battery to a certain %, to prevent it from overcharging... could that be it?
I don't know where that option is (if it exists, cause maybe it was all just a dream), but check your power settings.

I have never come across a place taht lets you cap the % of battery charge. Maybe I'm not looking in the right place. And my apologies to OP for taking it OT.

OP: What are your power settings?

I seriously doubt my battery is already worn out, even if it was, it should still charge to 100%. I know the ThinkVantage power management software lets you set a threshold to charge below, but the built-in Vista setup doesn't seem to have that option.

Which power settings in particular? I have mine plugged in most of the time with everything set to full.
