Here's one that grows on you! I've been checking out some lesser traveled browsers and this so far as been pretty great the more you realize it can do. Right now there are about 156 skins. Anyone have any good or bad comments on this one?

    Edit: OK Calvin ;)

This really is an impressive browser as it integrates so well with Vista and works off the standard favorites folder. Spysweeper seems to be working with it as well. The options are awesome, especially in the privacy area :D

Would like to hear any other opinions, tips, etc from others.

The more I find out about Slimbrowser, the more I like it. I guess you get two updates, one from FlashPeak for the browser, and one from MS for the IE engine. Great options in the area of privacy, did I say? Not a pop up one also ;) Check it out at download.com

Is it like Avant and Maxthon? I used to use Avant and really liked before getting pulled into a tidal wave called Firefox lol.

I've used Avant and Maxthon. Slimbrowser IMO is better than Avant or Maxthon. It also runs on the IE engine, but has some very powerful options. Also, I just found out the hard way, if you have a crash, it WILL ask you if you want to restore the last session ala Firefox. Slimbrowser didn't crash, the system did :D

I posted a pic with the Zwart skin in the "Show us your Vista Desktop" thread, post 391. http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=104877&page=8

Ha! ;) too many toolbars, and no tabs....it's slimmer (memory wize) than ff or ie, but not much. Here's as 'slim' as I can make mine "look" and it still be useful:

If that's slim, then what's this? This is my current Firefox setup and it works like a charm.

Firefox is by far the most customizable browser to date, and with Firefox Preloader the "startup troubles" some people mention are next to non-existant.

Sorry for hijacking the thread with pro-FF propaganda. :D

LOL... Did you even read the tab in your picture? It's about:blank. LOL... Yeah a totally secure browser here. I think I'll stick with FF ;)

about:blank is just a blank page, and nothing more. I don't really see what that has to do with security. Firefox also has an about:blank page, though it trims it away from the address-bar once you open it.

Too slim, where are the tabs for my home pages? ;) I was talking about memory usage, I've been checking SB against FF2.0.0.10 and IE7. I haven't put FF3 beta on yet (I have the latest install file), so I can't compare. I don't think FF progranda is needed on _this_ forum, and I won't argue the virtues either...I just put FF on my son's A8js when I clean installed for him. He's young and I needed to protect him from himself ;)

Hmm... I looked in this more, and it can be used a command for a blank page. Never noticed it since FF trims it away. But it is also a spyware program, that can really screw with your internet traffic, which I thought was its only function. Read this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CoolWebSearch

I actually don't have one yet, I joined up on this forum to try and get some help deciding on which laptop to buy for college next year (this forum has been a great resource btw). Right now I'm just using my desktop. I'm probably gonna be getting to a Dell 1520 though, or maybe a G1S, not sure yet. But I still bet I'm more secure ;)

Goldmember, my man, I'm pointing out Slimbrowser to those in need of a browser that integrates well with Vista (and Spysweeper in my case) and has some powerful options, like privacy. Everyone knows about FF, even my relatives on the farm. :D

I'm pretty much doing the same thing, keep going back to Slimbrowser for my own uses. I do keep FF installed, but like this one so far.

EDIT: Also waiting on a final of Opera. Beta 9.5b got screwy on me and I had to uninstall :D

Have you checked out K-meleon, the open sourced Gecko engined browser? I'm looking it over now. It's fast but doesn't seem to have near the power options of SB, unless I'm missing something. Going to the forum now.

EDIT: I can't K-meleon to display Gmail properly...I'm using latest beta. Slimbrowser is far and away more polished.

Ehh... What? I must be misunderstanding something here, because hitting F11 in both Opera and IE7 enters full screen mode.
In Opera you don't even have the status bar at the bottom shown in your screenshot (though you can make custom buttons featuring commands that add or remove various elements - toolbars, tab bar etc. in full screen mode).

This browser has no advantage over FireFox and its very useful extensions.

Are you guys that worried about memory usage? Get two gigs like I did more than a year ago...

My memory is in my sig....it's going to 3 here shortly so I can give my son one of my 1 gig sticks. Yes, it's different than FF. I guess I've used mozilla and firefox so long it's refreshing to see something else that is very well put together and different.

Here's a quality browser I've found: TheWorld Browser....seems similar to Avant but I like this one better...pretty fast.

EDIT: To me it's between Slimbrowser and Avant for Vista integration. Avant lacks the browser lock up function if you walk away (I think). Currently using Avant to see how it goes. BTW, Firefox is NOT more secure anymore than IE if you believe what you read on Secunia.com. At least for the last year or so.
