Is anyone else noticing a very sluggish response time in File System actions in Vista. For example, if I right click on a folder (or the recycle bin), it takes about 3-4 seconds to pull up. To compare, my Win 2k, pulls up instantly when I right click on it.
After testing, I discovered it seems to be CA Antivirus 2007 (version 8.4.0.11). If I "snooze" the antivirus for a min, all of the sudden my file system response time is instant! However after 1 min, it's back to slow!
Has anyone else noticed this or found a good solution? Is this is a problem specific to CA Antivirus and Vista or do all AV have this issue? My Win2k is running the SAME version of CA Antivirus and has no problem.
My Laptop (Vista) is a Dual Core 7200 with 2 Gigs of ram
My Desktop (win 2k) is a P3 3.2 with 1 gig of ram.

Have you tried rebooting your computer? If that doesn't help, maybe eliminating some programs you don't need, and running an ad-ware remover. Also, run a Disk Defrag if you haven't done so already.

Rebooted several times. I've had this problem for the past month or so ever since I did a clean install of Vista and then installed CA Anti Virus.
Again, if I "snooze" the Anti Virus, the problem goes away until the AV wakes up. It seems to be directly related to CA AV 2007, unless it's just a coincidence. Has anyone else noticed this issue? -
Before returning the product and getting it from an alternate vendor, I figure I would post here to see if anyone else has any experience or ideas or recommendations? -
Switched from CA 2007 Antivirus over to NOD32 and Vista is running A LOT faster. So if anyone is having similar slowdowns, double check your AntiVirus software, esp CA 2007.

I have tried the trial version of a CA anti virus a few months ago and quite frankly I think it is a rubbish anti virus. I threw some known viruses at it and it did not even detect them, this is the reason why zonelabs dropped them from version 7 of zonealarm internet security in favor of kaspersky anti virus. If I had a choice between paying for CA 2007 and using something free like avast or avg I would use the 2 of them before I used CA 2007...

Agreed.
Also, Anti-Vir just announced Vista Support I think yesterday:

so that is a good viable option if you qualify for the free alternative.
