i dont really know how to describe whats up with my laptop but here it goes. Hopfully someone will be able to give me a little insite. I just bought a HP Pavillion dv9000 series and thought i would be satisfied with it, except for one thing, i think it under performs giving the guts of this thing. I dont know much about labtops and pc's but i know a few small things.. or maybe i am being just a bit picky.. does this sounds normal, when i close anyof my windows they seem to hesitate or it almost looks like the 'drag' or are very slow when opening or closing.. dont know about you guys if you have the same problem.. but i just dont like it. you would think now a days there would just pop open and closed no problem...

    these are my specs.

    HP Palvilion dv9625ca

    AMD Turion X2 mobile technology TL-60 and 512KB + 512BK L2 Cache (2.0ghz)
    240 GB (120 x 2 - 5400RPM) Dual HD
    2048 MB DDR2 SDRAM (2Dimm)
nvidia GeForce 7150M with shared graphics memory
17" WXGA High Definaition brightview widescreen
    Windows vista home premium

Thanks to anyone who would like to let me know about the little anoying things

    Steve

Its the video card i believe~ Ive read on these forums that the 7150M is a decent integrated videocard but it has one flaw. Since it is usually paired with a turion (which runs hotter and takes up more batteries) HP had to downclock the videocard to avoid it from overheating and whatnot (to around 100mHz). The card can run games better than the intel GMA, but running aero, its not very good.

To make the windows faster, disable windows aero glass.

    Try with disabling the transparency.

They really had to downlock to cool a 7150 in a 17''? WoW

Try control panel>system and maintenance>performance information and tools and at the left side under the "Tasks" select adjust visual effects and uncheck animate windows when minimizing and maximizing.

Might solve your problem but i doesn't remember a quicker way though.

back to the question with a shared video card.. would this make the diffence if i exhance for soemthing with dedicated?

thanks for all the help eveyone.

It will free some ram for you to use, not much really. At least, as far as i remember.

Ohohoh, and it might makes you look professional.

You're welcome, well, i have a 8600m gt and i too experience this problem when my aero is off, the maximize and minimize animation turn out stuttering.

More like 2000. In XP, you have the XP theme and the classic them. In Vista, you have Aero, Basic & classic theme

a dedicated card would definitely help improve the computers performance... since you have a dual core processor, vista recommends you having 2 gigs of ram... however since its shared memory alot of your ram is going into the video card. only downside is the dedicated card costs more... if you dont my asking how much did this one cost, because you might be able to get another laptop for cheaper... hp does overprice their computers...
