I just reinstalled vista and 185.20 Vista drivers. However, I don't see smart dimmer in the power options under the display category.

How can I get that option?

Not all the functions are available with every driver from LV2G, some of the drivers are tweaked for gaming, other functions such as PowerMizer and Smart Dimmer may not work. The only thing you can do is try another driver version.

Anyone know what the latest Vista x64 drivers with SmartDimmer are? I can't recall there being any since this summer.

I tried adding some options to the inf regarding smart dimmer as found on the forum:

    ;Smart Dimmer Controls
    HKR,, EnableBrightnessControl, %REG_DWORD%, 1
    HKR,, PanelPWMFrequency, %REG_DWORD%, 200
    HKR,, PanelBrightnessLimits, %REG_DWORD%, 0x0000FF32

    Didn't work...

There seems to be more involved than just making registry edits. I remember SmartDimmer did work in one release from months ago, but did not work properly, i.e. it dimmed the screen after a period of idle time, but never restored the brightness when you came back.

It's fine. I have decided to just turn off the monitor after some idling time. So it has the power consumption I want.
