Press the PrintScreen key, then open MS Paint, then choose Edit > Paste (or press Ctrl-V).

Then crop it, draw on it, whatever.

It's the poor man's snipping tool.

ok, ok, I'm sure there are better screen capture programs... but that's always there and it will do the job.

?? I have a dedicated print screen button, no need to push Fn.

And alt+prnt scrn takes a screen shot of just the active window, if that's what you're talking about.

Get Fastone Capture 5.3, it's a beaut of a program. Use this version because it's the last free one without crippled functionality.

I also recommend this program. I used it back on xp. But i have some screen capture utilities on my best free software for windows list if you'd like to try something else.

Some keyboards have their own printscreen key, others put it as an Fn function. They are all different so it doesn't warrant a violent reaction like that.

Yup, this is the best one for simple everyday usage. I also recommend the Other Faststone apps, which are FREE. I use FastStone Image Viewer as my default image viewer and FastStone Photo Resizer is Priceless IMO.

BTW...Snag-it is the best capture tool for more robust usage, but it's not free.
