And the copy expires tomorrow. My computer did not come with a Windows Vista disk or a Recovery disk as I bought a display model. Do I need a fresh copy of Vista or 7 to continue to use my computer?

All of the windows 7 betas/leaked builds die in the next two weeks.

So yes, you need to buy win7 from a legit source.

You might be able to call the support line for your laptop and ask what replacement or upgrade media would cost you. No way of telling what they might say without your trying the call.

You could try donwloading the vista version that was installed on your laptop. The installer might pick up the key of that installation. Not sure if it will but i know it always did so when i reinstalled Vista on mine.
A backup would've saved you quite a bit of money.

So when my beta expires, what happens? Will my DVD drive be able to read my disk when no operating system exists, should I install my new copy of Windows 7 before the beta expires? or after?

Your DVD drive will still work fine. Even if you let it expire you'll still be able to install a new operating system after the fact. It makes no difference. However, there's no time like the present to install the new copy.

You already have a copy of Windows 7? What's your problem then, Install it! Make sure to back up everything though, as, as far as I know, you cannot upgrade from Beta/RC etc.
