This, by the way is my first post here.
On Monday I placed an order for one of the Superman series of laptops from Alienware. This is my first laptop purchase...I usually prefer desktops, but in this instance a laptop will be perfect. I am also a Superman nut...so this makes it even better.
I decided to get it stocked with pretty much all the top end selections...the only thing I "skimped" on was the processor...I couldn't see paying an extra 300 bucks for .15 Ghz more power...but that is just me. 2 Gigs of Ram, 400Gig HD along with the 400 external HD.
Monday morning 10am order is placed. By noon it has been pushed through to Stage 2.
Tuesday I call and ask to make sure my card went through okay, and they say it did and was bumped to Stage 3.
Wed it was just being put to Stage 4 at the end of the business day.
Today, Thursday it has moved from Stage 5 to Stage 6 by 2pm.
I am really excited, and hoping it comes on the projected day of arrival May 10th.
I know one or two other members here that have the Superman version, and would ask to hear some of your experiences with it.

Congratulations on the machine.
It looks like you ordered a fully loaded one. You made a good decision not spending the extra money for the 2.16 or 2.33GHz versions, they are not worth the money. The best price/performance is the T7200 2.0GHz.
Here's a thread about a Superman laptop that was ordered by one of our members:

Yeah...I hunted that one down the other day. Spoke to MaxGem through PM's...nice guy. And told me some good things about the system.
And yeah, I felt that if I was going to spend some money for a new system may as well do it right. 5k for a laptop may be more than most people think is sane...but hey...I got what I wanted.
A friend just brought up a good question....does the video card in this system, 256MB ATI Mobility Radeon® X1800 w/ Avivo Technology, have TV-out capabilities? I am way out of the loop on computer tech these days.
Cause I would love being able to hook it up to my Sony Wega 51" HD-TV :look -

Yes, you can hook up your notebook to a TV. By using the DVI port you can get high-definition out. -
Oh don't worry...I save too. I am probably one of the few 26 years old you will find that has no college degree but still maxes out his 401k and IRA every year while still spending money on toys.
I didn't realize it would have HD output as well...now that will be fun for games like Supreme Commander and Burning Crusade.
Maybe I should look into upgrading the optical drive to a Blu-Ray or something. Hmm. -
you make 400 000 a year ?
-
Not quite...but I am looking into a contract that will pay 300k for a years work.
-
wow my parents each make about 450 000, and theyre both doctors!
you are one lucky dude man -
It's called being in the right place at the right time. I was in college for a Criminal Justice degree, then left school and enlisted in the Marine Corps. After I got out, with a Clearance, I got a job as an analyst...and it pays well.

Mine took about 2 and a half weeks to arrive. It would have come in earlier if Nelson Gonzales had signed his signature earlier but the wait was worth it.

How has Vista been so far? I haven't even seen it used let alone tried it out myself.

Wow...my computer got shipped out today. That is a total of 9 day turnaround from placing the order and having it arrive (May 9th arrival date).
Now I am really excited. -
Wow that is quick. Ordered on Monday and shipped on a Friday. Lucky guy
So far so good...
