Should I get it?
All I do is web browse on Opera, watch a movie and play games. Also, I've optimized Vista to beyond anything sane and now idle as low as 28 processes, I'd hate to see that all undone.
So, does it increase FPS?
Compatability? [NWN, Mage Knight Apocalypse, Diablo II, Morrowind]
Obviously my update doesn't go on unless I want it to, so should I want it to?

WOW, 28 processes on Vista!!! Quite low but maybe too low.
I play games with this before and after SP1.
The results among all my games are "There was no FPS Increase"
Sorry(I don't know about the others)
Compatibility- don't have problems like that so far -

Here is a visual represetation of the process:
:GEEK::yes:
:confused2: :twitcy:
At least it seems all stable now and, except for Diagnostic Policy Service and Themes, there really isn't any services left to take off. It wouldn't lower the total processes running if I did anyway. -

Ummm where is it???

It was a joke. It was a visual representation of the looks on my face each time I crashed my computer. -

I'll post my entire settings as they are in services, but it is my b-day and I have to go, get out and buy things. If I take on this task now, I'll never get out.
It will be up by early tomorrow morning.
As for the interpretation of the smilies.
I start off feeling all geeking and capable of messing around on the computer :GEEK: so I sneak in to services.I see a started service  and I want to shut it off, then get 2nd thoughts
, then ignore those second thoughts:yes: . Then I restart and it freezes at startup
so I cut the power and boot again. It gets past the BIOS
and then a wordy BSOD flashes by.
It restarts again and asks me about safe mode and repair.
Safe mode fails and it says it is going to attempt repairs. I wait.
And I then wait some more. It then tries to start again.
Watching... Watching... It is loading... I think. :confused2: And the screen flickers and the password screen comes up :twitcy:. YEAH BABY!!
See! I knew what I was doing. 28 processes at idle. -

Actually your configurations are quite safe(I think) since yoiu set them to manual. I disable them. But I still get around 39.
-
If you dont really use Windows Media Center, you can disable all of it. You will only loose some functionality for Media Center (like tv and streaming)
If you not connected to ANY LAN NETWORK/SERVER. You can disable Workstation, this will speed things up by alot. -

Part 1:
My computer reads my HD-DVD drive as a CD Drive when I look at the computer thru the start menu. I can't start DVD/DVDROM in autoplay or by clicking on the drive. I can play DVDs thru mediacenter, but not media player. I have to browse DVDROMs manually to install new games. Icons for installed games run things normally.
Part 2:
I have a sprint cellphone for my modem primarily and ocassionally hit a hotspot when traveling. Or I use my aunt's wireless router when visiting her.
Can I just set Workstation to Manual [or auto-delayed?] and will that keep it off unless I seek out a wireless connection or should I just leave it on?
Edit: Sprint works without it as I stopped it and set it to manual and it stayed off. Will the manual setting let me connect to hotspots or my aunt's wireless? I guess I'll know what to turn back on if it doesn't, but I'm not around any wireless spots right now, therefore I can't test it.
So, now that it is out, does SP1 improve gaming at all?
