Who installed Safari 3.1 for Windows, in the past few days when it was offered to iTunes users by Apple's software updater? Just curious. (I don't have iTunes or any Apple programs installed, but I've been reading about this...)
Did you install Safari on purpose or by accident? And... how do you like it?
-
I have it on my XP deskop. It's nothing special, imo.
-
I installed it a while ago, didn't like it, and uninstalled it.
-
If a large number of people start recommending it I might try it again, but otherwise I see no reason to. -

i just tried it it was pretty fast but wasnt my taste so i stick with opera/firefox
-
I'm using it. It's faster than previous and is actually faster than Opera! It's the only browser that works well with CNET TV. Opera & IE7 sometimes doesn't show videos well on CNET TV.
-
The betas were slow as hell on both my PCs, but the final release is pretty fast, noticeably faster than Firefox with fasterfox installed. I would change across to Safari, but there a still a couple deal killers for me (lack of bookmark keywords and FCKeditor won't work in it)
-
Tried safari, was fast but not as functional as I wanted it to be.
In my opinion nothing can beat the following combo:
Firefox + following addons:
adblock
firebug
user agent switcher
mouseless browsing
piclens
better youtube
greasemonkey and various scripts to make web pages like you want them to be -
I didn't bother with it, more than happy with FF.
-
Yeah.... I noticed that "update" and steered clear.
Firefox FTW!! -
mattireland It used to be the iLand..
I don't like Safari. On Windows, I'd probably use IE6/7 in preference!
But yes as blackbird said, use Firefox. And can I stress the greatness of piclens. Google it and install it, for FF or IE: it's great! -
Safari has even less features than IE7.
Its for very simple users. not for Power users.
Although its Fast but due to lack of customization FF users dont like it. -
yep firefox ftw and if you visit userscripts.org and have greasemonkey addon installed you can install numerous popular scripts which change how web pages are displayed
for example i installed a popular script called Google i&Search Dark + Enhancements v1.7.7 which makes my google display as such
perfect for surfing at night, doesnt hurt eyes and saves power -

Safari is okay. I used it a lot when I got my MBP, but then I went back to using FF. I noticed a slight speed increase in Safari now that 3.1 is out, but I still prefer FF (and I'm not really in to all the customizations, I just prefer the "feel" of FF better)

@ blackbird awesome mod i installed it right away. is it possible to do this for all websites with white bgs? xD
-
have you checked on userscripts.org to see if there are any which allow you to do so....i have seen some around for specific websites like facebook but not for the entire web
So... who installed Safari?
