Reviews are hard to come by on this type of software. Use to use sygate, then Outpost (had issues when no internet connect) and now I am trying to decide what to put on for a software firewall to back up my hardware one. I've heard suggestions towards Kerio; anyone familar with it?

I just use Zone Alarm for when I'm away from my hardware firewall. At first, it gets obnoxious with allowing the programs but once you get that all set up it runs flawlessly. Of course you always find people who have personal vendettas against specific software/hardware and i'm sure others will say to avoid zone alarm like the plague, but this is just my opinion and experience.

I am using Kerio right now. I like it a lot .. easy to customize. Used to have zonealarm. hate it and also a system resource hog.

I am just using the bulit-in Windows XP Firewall (along with my hardware firewall)
I have edited hosts file to protect myself against all those nasty sites. You can get'em from Google or you could visit this site . I think its pretty good to block all those unwanted sites.
