I decided to buy a new mouse since my old one started to break down. I found a Logitech G5 mouse(the older version not the 2007 model) and took it home. I installed the software and thats were the problems began. I have Windows Vista HP on my Dell Inspirion 6400. The software installed fine but when I tried to update the software the program would crash and give me this dialog box.

I was fine about that but when I went to plug in my ipod Nano itunes would no longer recognize it even though my computer did. I've tried unplugging the mouse before connecting the ipod and that didn't do anything, I've tried all the other usb ports and that still didn't work. I really don't want to throw the mouse away as I love it but if I can't figure out how to get my ipod to sync then who knows. I've also reinstalled the mouse software but it didn't help at all. I remember during the installation process that the software said because I have a touchpad it wouldn't install everything and just change the usb ports. So I think thats where the problem comes from.

If anyone has any suggestion that would be helpful.

Might need to use System Restore to roll back the changes.

You don't technically need the Logitech software...I never install any input device (keyboard/mouse) software.

So I went with your suggestion about uninstalling the Logitech software and I un-installed the set point updater. I can now connect my Ipod to Itunes with it recognizing it. I'll see how long that will last for. I should have thought of that before. Thanks for the help.
