So I have a hp dv9700t laptop with a Blu-Ray player and I want to know what the better or best software is for Blu-Ray playback! It comes equipped with QuickPlay, which I think really sucks. It is always freezing up and making me shut the computer down and restarting! Please all opinions are welcome! Thanks in advance!

Roxio Easy Media Creator 10 I believe works with BluRay. Read up on it on their web site and also the forums.

It's going to cost money no matter what, you realize. There aren't any free Blu-Ray software players other than the one that was bundled with your machine.

I have a BD player in my 9700t and I know they sell HD DVD drives as well... Not that anyone needs to buy one of those!

blue -ray, now that HD DVD's will no longer be the standard. I am assuming my dvd rom is HD, but i could be wrong, however, I am wanting to look into blu-ray dvd roms now due to toshiba's defeat.

Your dvd rom is not HD... Only BD and HD DVD are high def media at this time. Your standard DVD player puts out at 480i and some putout 480p. You can buy upconverting dvd players that are supposed to make standard dvds near high def. I just ordered my laptop customized from HP with one. They now offer them and if your is compatable you can probably order one from their parts department.

    Edit:
Your laptop should work with a BD player

Don't also forgot to put your laptop in "high performance mode".

Because of Nvidia PureVideo HD, videos are processed by the GPU, if you are on power saver, they will run at like 10FPS
