I was doing my scheduled complete PC backup (Vista Ultimate SP1) and I got this error:

"Error 0x80070020 the process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process"

So, I searched here but couldn't find any tips. But saw a possible solution from google, which was to disable antivirus for a while (I chose 15 mins) and then complete the backup.

    This works.

Once done, I just enabled the antivirus back.

*Thought I will post this here, since I could not find any thread or post with this info. Hope it helps those in need*

    Cheers and good luck.

    Hi People,

Continuing my previous post, I would like to add the following points.

The previous AV turn off was just with Norton..

But couple of days back, I wanted to see if it happens the same with ThreatFire too.. when I did the complete PC backup, I had to turn off Threatfire, since with it on, I got the same error.

So, for me, this is something new or something that I didn't come across before. Also this is an issue that just came up suddenly, since the previous times (having the laptop since June) when I did the complete PC backup, I did not have turn off any AV.

Can someone please try to clarify this for me?

Why is it that now I need to turn off the AV? Also, the C: backup goes on fine, it always gets stuck in the D: part. So does that mean there are some files in the D: that are being protected or something?

In any case, shouldn't the Vista Ult. Complete PC backup utility be able to override those settings since its a complete PC backup, run from within the OS anyways?

    Thanks a lot.

    Hi people

I figured out now thats its 'only' threatfire which is causing the above mentioned error...

I tried adding an exception (if possible) in TF.. but I can't figure out how to add that exception or exclusion or whatever, for the complete pc backup...

Any suggestions, please?? thanks in advance.
