Windows 7 runs great on any new hardware. A dual core processor and 2 GB of RAM will have no problem running W7.

There is no official release date yet. Rumor has it being released anywhere from Q2 2009 to Q1 2010.

Your question has already been answered. I am curious though as to what prompted it. What made you believe that Windows 7 would only run well on the absolute latest processors? Did you read about it somewhere?

I am running it on an ATi Radeon x1300 -- quite an antiquated piece of hardware with 64 MB of dedicated VRAM and 3 GB of system RAM and Aero works smoothly.

I imagine you could run with integrated graphics if you disabled some of the eye candy. After having it installed for a few days, I'm starting to get the hang of 7 and am really enjoying the experience.

1.5Ghz PM, intel 915 integrated graphics, 2GB RAM (used to be 1.5), runs just fine with out aero. My 1.8GHz Dual core with 3GB Ram and x1600 256MB runs incredibly well with Win 7.
