I bought a sager a few months back without an o/s. I've been running the RC version(or beta, w/e) of windows 7 64 bit.

Now I know thast going to run out in a few months so I need to buy Win 7.

    My questions are
    1. Will this version be fine?

I'm not exactly sure what the 'for system builders' means, I assume its not just for companies or i wouldn't be able to buy it but will that version be ok? I couldn't care less about phone support and only answer i seem to find online is thats all that this version is lacking and that seems weird for such a discount.

    2. I don't really care about anything on my laptop, all the pictures/music etc are on my desktop too so its no loss and anything else i have discs for install. Is there a built in way to easily go from RC to a clean version of the purchased version that I will see when i put in the Win7 disc?

i know to most of you these are dumb questions but thx in advance for answering.

Yes you can use the system builder version. If you are a student you can also try getting a cheap version that way.

System builder will only work on one computer or laptop. So you can uninstall it and install it on your desktop. That is the only difference really.

If you dont care about the stuff on your computer why not just do a clean install? Format your drive and install the new purchased version. It will ask you if you want to upgrade or do a clean install when you start the setup from the disk.

OEM lisences are tied to the first computer you activate it on while retail can be switched. You can, of course, re-activate an OEM version through phone activation.
