I disabled write cache via device manager on my HDD and now there's no more delay when you click on a group folder in the start menu. Now all the group icons all appear instantaneous.

I'm surprised it made a difference at all, since you're not writing anything to the disk. Technically, your computer should be slower now with write caching disabled.

Most newer drives benefit from the write cache. Interesting to see your result.

Strange I didn't notice any change on my HP. Then again I have no way of measuring the "delay."
