Something keeps disabling hibernation on my laptop on regular basis! Every few days I realize hibernation does not work and find the corresponding key in the registry set to 0 (disabled)! I can't find what is it and why...!?
Any clues!?
I am running Windows 7 Pro x64, but I have the exact same problem on another machine with Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit, configured the same way (pretty much the same software running on both)
I suspected PerfectDisk 12 but I see no option there for that and I don't remember to have had this issue whilst using PerfectDisk 11![]()
Ideas!?
-
use Auslogics defragmenter instead. It's free for personal use.
-
It's possible if you have perfectdisk 12 scheduled. If so it may disable hibernation.
-
type in command prompt pwrcfg -h on
-
That isn't the problem, some program disables it after it's re-enabled. My money would be on something that is scheduled to run like your defrag. I thought about malware as well, but i don't see why malware would do that and you probably already have that covered.
You could try disabling perfect disk and see if the problem goes away, then you'd have another clue to pinpointing the problem. -
I am really satisfied with PerfectDisk Pro, wouldn't want to migrate.
Yes and no. It is set to defragment whenever the pc is idle and not earlier than 3 days since the last defrag.
That's not the point - I do know how to enable it but it brings me nothing when I have to do that every couple of days! I am looking for the reason why it gets disabled and not how to enable it, I already know at least 2 ways how to do that
Could try that but I find it funny that I couldn't find anybody else complaining about that... quite a few people use PerfectDisk nowadays... strange. -
I had this problem recently and the only solution that fixed it was to make a new power plan.
-
Do you have some kind of disk cleanup running that may be erasing the hibernation file?
-
Nope.
The only "care" type of utility I use is PerfectDisk 12. -
In this case type this powercfg -restoredefaultschemes
If it will not help then it is longer way but first try this. -

When this occurs again, look in the root of the C: drive and see if there is a hibernation file still there. (You may need to enable viewing of hidden/system files to do so.) This might help diagnose the issue.

Thanks. I don't want to change anything since it is working, but it is good to know
Something keeps disabling hibernation!? What is it!?
