    Hi to all...

Recently I got a Sony MicroVault 8 Gb pendrive. It works fine in my Vista Home Premium laptop, I can copy and extract large files from laptop to pendrive and pendrive to laptop with no issues, but in my job system with Windows XP Pro, I keep getting error dialogs when copying large files between the desktop and the pendrive (about 250-500 Mb). Everytime it happens, the pendrive ejects out by itself (not physically) and then plugs in automatically. I get some error messages about the location of the drive, and some about the file being used in other location.

These issues appear only on my work desktop pc with Windows XP SP3. If I plug it on another desktop, the pendrive works fine and I can copy large files with no problems.

    My system:
AMS Sempron 2800 2.0 Ghz, 960 Mb of RAM

    Thanks in advance...

    Hi.

Some laptop usb controllers do not like some usb pendrive`s

Have you tried using a usb hub and see if that works.

I had a webcam, it would not work on my laptop slow glitchy video, but it played great when plugged into a usb hub give it a go.

who makes laptop chipset, it`s not Via is it?

    Regards

    John.

ROFL!!! (not physically) it woud be hilarious to see a pendrive pop out and fly around the room like crazy hahahah

as for the question, have u tried formatting the pen drive in the XP computer? mb this can solve anything?

    AND

vista can pretty much recognize more devices than XP... try entering the website of the pendrive maker and dload any new driver

Thanks for your answers. I tried using the pendrive on another XP desktop and works fine, It can read and copy very large files with no problems. The issues are only in my XP desktop. Any way to uninstall the current drivers of the USB and reinstall it again?

    1) Format the Pendrive and run a disk error check

    2) Try a different USB port

    3) Try a different computer

    1. Thanks. I already format the pendrive, and It has no disk errors

    2. Same issues on another USB port

    3. In other computer the pendrive works fine. I can copy a lot of large files with no errors. The problems only happen in my own PC.

If It helps, here's the screenshots of the error dialogs I'm getting with the pendrive (sorry, they're in spanish):
