I just purchased a new Sony F Series laptop and have created a set of recovery disks as per Sony's recommendations. Like all Sony's, there is a recovery partition on the C drive, and I assume that this is where the disk image is located from which I created the disk set. I know that using these disks would restore an HDD to a 'from the factory' state including bloatware etc. However, will it also re-create the recovery partition itself?

    Thanks.

Depends on the setting you choose - you'll have options when entering the recovery module - one will do just C: drive other will do exactly as you describe (the entire drive).

The recovery discs won't recreate the recovery partition (is already there). The recovery partition is hidden and could be deleted.

If you choose to delete the recovery partition, you can't recreate it.

    This is not true.

With the Sony VAIO (the F series, at least), there is the option to do a full factory restore. This will write the Recovery Partition back onto the HDD being restored. Rumor has it though, that sometimes it only works on the OEM HDD.
