My point exactly
Forza is one of the only games that only works on Windows 10 because of DX12
For those who still uses Windows 7 will be fine as long you stay away from Porn/Warez sites and use an ad blocker when browsing.

Major Antivirus Apps Will Remain Available for Windows 7 Until 2022
All the major antivirus software vendors are going to continue providing support Windows 7 by their products for more two years. Windows 7 is now discontinued by Microsoft starting on January 14, 2020.Spartan@HIDevolution and inm8#2 like this. -

Actually scratch that. Modern Warfare has several gamebreaking issues on Windows 7. First is that exclusive fullscreen is missing from the options menu, and there are only windowed modes available. Which means that performance is worse than exclusive fullscreen, and there is an added frame of input lag and frame pacing issues due to Aero/DWM (can be remedied by switching to Windows Basic theme, but this makes the frame rate even worse). Also no G-Sync or RTSS hooking support for D3D12on7, so variable refresh rate and OSD/FPS limiter don’t work either. However the most egregious problem is that the game actually runs at about half the FPS shown on the built-in FPS counter, which makes it feel extremely stuttery and laggy. I had to use Windows 10 in order to play Modern Warfare properly.
I’ve also read about nothing but problems from people trying to play Gears 5 on Windows 7. At this point D3D12on7 just seems like a half-baked mess that I doubt will ever work properly, so Windows 10 is looking inevitable if you’re a gamer. -
I tried gow5 on both k4100m and 980m on win7, no dice. Got two different error notices. One was no gpu detected the other was i think a dx12 capable gpu needed lol. Most games pubs arent stupid enough to require dx12 though, they need/want all the sales unlike monkey$oft gangsters.

For those who are still hanging on (and with good cause):
It appears that the Windows 7 ESU Bypass is indeed working.
https://www.ghacks.net/2020/02/13/it-appears-that-the-windows-7-esu-bypass-is-indeed-working/
https://news.softpedia.com/news/hac...g-updates-despite-end-of-support-529186.shtml
As they suggest a backup is created of important data, better the entire system, before the bypass or any of the updates that Microsoft released for Windows 7 are installed. If something goes wrong, it is then possible to go back to the previous version without losing any data.
Unfortunately I cannot try this myself as I recently installed Windows 8.1. With a few "Look like Windows 7" tweaks and the removal of metro, personally my oldie but goodie Skylake flies along seamlessly.Last edited: Feb 13, 2020 -
Deskmodder.de has some updated articles on the Win7 ESU bypass (even a "new" method):

Doing fine. I really think most of the exploits come for the latest and greatest bc most people use it. My only regret is the console port large games that have come out lately that are dx12 only like Death Stranding and HZD but who knows if I'd even like those hard to judge really. I have 3-4 AAA older games like origins, odyssey, prey, mhw going right now that work just fine on win7. Most smaller games and a lot of big games still run fine on Win7 as well, not everyone is stupid enough to cut themselves off from customers. Again I just enjoy a stable OS that does everything I need and that I have some control over the update process, I'm not naive enough to think win7 doesn't phone home but at least it doesn't get chaotic updates etc

I prefer having no updates, so I haven't identified a reason to corrupt my Windows 7 installation by enabling the ESU bypass. Windows 7 is better without updates and so is Windows 10. With rare exceptions, all the updates bring is a decline in OS performance, and performance is far more important to me than the fairy tale called security. There is absolutely no basis for anyone to believe Windows 10 will ever become a good product like Windows 7. They have had more than 5 years to make it a good product, but all they can manage to do is make it worse. Windows 7 doesn't need anything to be awesome.

Yeah couldn't agree more. I have not had updates turned on for a couple of years, there hasn't been any os breaking problems in all that time. I don't even have any AV it just gets in the way most of the time and all the stuff I get off the net is from trusted sources. Seems like it's all pretty clean out there now for normal people idk. I do have a third party firewall that is set on manual so almost everything that needs to go online must get an ok from me. My other laptop has win10 but it's ltsc version and used all the disablers people use. I have not had it connected to wifi for almost a year though so I may be in for a nasty surprise when I do lol. I just wish there was a way to get dx12 on win7 that's not some shady hack, dang greedsters.

Windows 7 ESU Bypass v10 has been released deskmodder.de December 20, 2020
Briefly informed: Abbodi has updated the Windows 7 ESU bypass to version 10 and made minor changes. If you have installed the v9, you only need to install the v10 over it. An improved .NET 4 ESU bypass was integrated...Vasudev likes this. -
Well I just made the switch to 10 when my m6700 died in October, already had ltsc on my m4600. That's usually what gets me to switch, new equipment or old equipment going out. Being a gamer it's nice to know that there are really no games I cannot play just because of OS. I still have win7 on my netbook though, mainly just for pdanet+ compatibility with my phone so I can get wifi through it on the road/camping etc Other than that I'd put some form of linux on it for much faster/lighter usage, it only has an old atom cpu and 2gb ram so even win7 chugs on it.

Microsoft has stopped offering Windows 7 drivers via Windows Update betanews.com | June 18, 2021
There have been many reasons to move away from the now-ancient Windows 7 for some time, and now there is another one. Microsoft will no longer offer driver updates via Windows Update for this version of the operating system.
The change comes a year and a half after support for Windows 7 came to an end, and also the expiry of the SHA-1 Trusted Root Certificate Authority for Windows 7 SP1, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2 last month. It is a slightly different story for anyone signed up for an Extended Security Update (ESU) programSpartan@HIDevolution and Vasudev like this.
Sooo advice on win7 support expiring in a month or so?
