    i had to go into dxdiag -> sound and change my sound from full acceleration to standard acceleration in order to fix a sound glitch in one of my games. does leaving it on standard acceleration lower sound quality or anything? when i listen to music i don't notice a difference

    No, you probably have an integrated sound card, which doesn't do hardware sound acceleration anyway
