    most inbuilt laptop soundcards are 2.1 channel

    for 5.1 u need to buy an external USB soundcard

    If you don't even know what 5.1 means, why does it matter to you?

    5 = 5 channels; .1 = 1 subwoofer.

    That attached screen has nothing to do with 2.1/5.1 whatsoever.

    It means its version 5.1 of the sound software.
    If it said Version 6.9, would you have come asking us that 6.9 was? :p

    Yeah that version number is irrelevant.

    Go to device manager and see if it'll tell you what sound chip you have. Then you can Google the make/model of the sound chip and you may be able to find out that way.
