Try uninstalling the drivers and just using Windows' built-in audio driver. It'll probably work fine with that.

Another possibility is that the problem could be that the USB bus is full... this is a USB device, right?... if you're using an external hard drive or some other high-bandwidth USB device at the same time as the sound device, it could be clogging the USB bus.

ah thanks! yes im actually using an external harddrive. ill unplugg it and try again. id like to keep the drivers because i really like the fake "surround sound" which sounds way better than just the normal sound.
do you have any other ideas for drivers i could run the headphones with that have the surround thing?

You can do Virtual Surround sound using the Vista built-in drivers. (Control Panel > Hardware & Sound > Sound > (device) > Propertes > Enhancements)

If you have the problem again, just try it. As long as you have the existing drivers you can always reinstall them. Should only take a few minutes to reinstall them if you need to.

it works fine now with just the vista drivers....but the "master volume" doesnt affect any programms/games anymore. when i change the volume (buttons on the headset or klick on the soundsymbol in the task bar) nothing happens. i have to change the volumes in the application and that sucks *...
