I've had this problem on my Acer 6920G since installing Windows 7. The sound has a tendancy to skip every minute or so. I've used 3 different audio devices with it, the internal soundcard and 2 USB Audio interfaces, and had the same problem.

Any idea why this might be?

    When does it skip?

    What program are you using?

Also, what types of files are you listening to or watching?

Does it happen on say, YouTube, or is it just media like iTunes or WMP? Or both?

Yeah, I'd go with the update/reinstall drivers option. Even if it doesn't help you have at least got it out of the picture.
