Often I am unable to hear the audio channels in YouTube videos using Google Chrome, which is my primary browser, yet at the same time, I am able to hear YouTube videos in Microsoft Explorer uninterrupted, as well as the audio in other sources, such as DVDs and iTunes. This problem persists despite refreshing the YouTube (YT) website or closing the YT site and opening it again. Usually the only way I can regain the audio in YT videos is to reboot the PC. I have been using an external USB-powered speaker bar (Logitech Z305) in lieu of the PC's original built-in speakers, which stopped operating almost 2 years ago.

Obviously--I think--something in the Google Chrome browser is causing the audio problem, but I cannot find it. Thanks much for reading and any suggestions to resolve the situation.

Perhaps the solution to the question I posed above is obvious, but in case this is of help or interest to anyone, I recently discovered the solution in the following site:

How to correct a missing plug-in? - Google Chrome Help

As the comments in the site indicate, my YouTube audio problems stemmed from a faulty Shockwave Flash plug-in. The suggested remedy has worked perfectly for me, including for YouTube videos embedded in other sites.

Of course, I should have Google-searched the answer before posting my question here and I apologize for posting before doing so.

    Thanks,
    Ken
