    Hey guy,

Is there a software that can transcribe speech (on an .mp3) file to text on a word document?

    Thanks,

    Hunter

Dragon Naturally Speaking 11 Premium Version will transcribe .MP3 files to text. Text is transcribe into Dragon's Word Processor called Dragon Pad. From there it can be saved as a .doc file for Word. Student price $99 at Amazon non-student for $136 at CDW. Shop around.

If you have Vista or Windows 7, you can use Windows Speech Recognition with WSRToolKit ($20) from WSRToolkit V2 WSRToolKit will only transcribe from .WAV files, but there are converters that can make a .WAV file from a .MP3 file. WRSToolKit transcribes to it's own transcription window and the text can be copied from there to MS Word.

These products do not transcribe from files containing multiple speakers. They require some training for accuracy. You might try Speech Computing | Where Speech Meets Computing for more "expert" answers to any Dragon questions you may have. Or MS Speech ForumThe Windows Speech Recognition and Macro Forum for WSRToolKit transcription questions.

I'm looking for one also but it's kinda different. I wanna make subs from Japanese anime but I don't know how to speak Japanese. Is there a program that will translate the voice to text?

In theory Adobe Soundbooth should be able to do it... I think I once tested it with German or English on a small self made recording and it didn't do too well... (on the CS4 Suite)
