This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    Does anyone know where i can get a better spell checker for Firefox? I misspelled similer and the spell checker says it's spelled simpler.LOL

    I just deliberately misspelt the word, similer (as you did) and got several choices
    smiler
    simile
    simpler
    similar
    similes

    Nothing wrong with it? Correct spelling - similar - is offered

    I searched the extensions on Firefox's home page but it didn't come back with anything. Hopefully they will improve it will FF 3.0.

    Firefox uses a program called aspell to do it's spell checking, which is also open-source. It's the same spell-checker used in gaim, and many other open source projects. It's usually quite good. Send a bug report to the aspell team if you think it's doing it wrong, but make sure that you can reproduce the bug.

    I just did it again like four times and it only gives me simpler for a replacement. Maybe i should uninstall the dictionary and try again.

    Ok, i un installed the Dictionary and now it works fine, Guess the add on dictionary messes it up or something.
