    Hiya Guys,

I have just installed Spybot S&D however when I click on the "Search For Updates" button I get the below error message

"Error retrieving update info file! Socket Error #10061 Connection refused."

Can you please let me know what I should do to fix this. I've got the Windows firewall running through SP2. Would that be causing a problem.

    Thanks,
    Erle

Do you have any other software/hardware firewall? This error message means that something is blocking Spybot from downloading information. Either something is misconfigured/conflicting with Spybot, or something in Spybot is corrupted. Make sure that the Windows firewall is set to allow incoming/outgoing data with Spybot, and also try reinstalling Spybot (if it is corrupted, that will fix the problem).

yes, that could be the problem. but, try to download from other sources, most of the tim; spybot server might be broken; eg. sometimes the file is corrupted, sometimes cannot connect. Anyway, i received an email from my ISP that tells me that there is some sort of global internet slowdown. i don't know if it is global or just my isp, but the thing is my internet been slow...er than usual.
