My friend has a problem with her computer.
She has a compaq desktop and it simply won't start up anymore.

She had a problem with her wireless internet card (the computer didn't detect it), so we opened her computer to see if it was in there correctly. It looked fine.
We try to start it up and it simply won't start. It goes as far as the Windows XP window (black background with the little loading progress bar) and then it restarts. It just loops on forever and fails to restart.

Does the same thing in safe mode, does the same thing if we try to restart it form the last working point. It just doesn't want to start up anymore.

    Any ideas?

Check all your internal connections, make sure everythings plugged up correctly. Also clean out any dust or debris, if all that fails... start testing parts.

The internet doesn't matter right now. We don't really care about the wireless at this point. We just want the computer to start again.

She doesn't have her Windows CP (I'm working on that).
In fact she doesn't have any CDs that came with her computer.

I can get into the BIOS. I haven't tried that though. I'll give it a try later today when I go to her house.
    Any more suggestions?

Well all I can say is that my gf's dad has a Compaq laptop and has very similar problems. Wireless just sucked big time all the time, never would connect when my Acer/Vaio connected fine, now it's just grinding to a total hold for no reason when using. Already formatted it twice.
