As suggested by flamenko in the Vista tweak topic, i download Startup Inspector. In it, i look at the rating it gives each start up process and notice that one has an exclamation mark against it. I see the name 'launcher' and clicking on the consult buttom reveals that it is some sort of spy ware component  I have no idea how this could have creeped in, i've only downloaded that, CCleaner, AIM, real player...just secure things like that off their own websites.

I'm wondering what in the world this launcher.exe thing is? A google search revealed it to be some sort of spyware, some websites offered scans but i don't trust them, and is it something to worry about? I unchecked it, for it not to load, but i get this message when i click ok

What is this? I disabled Adobe Acrobat from loading in msconfig, but now i've enabled it but i still get the message. Also, is it necessary to have adobe acrobat loading on start up? I just tried something...and each time i uncheck something with a checked item being after it, that error message description is replaced with the item after the last unchecked item, if that makes sense. I don't get this:\

    Description:

launcher.exe is an executable belonging to many applications including Webshots- a Windows desktop downloader, Uinterface Mouselaunch- a file and application initiator, and also a hardware interface for Samsung products. Note: launcher.exe is an advertising program by Intercort Systems. This process monitors your browsing habits and distributes the data back to the author's servers for analysis. This also prompts advertising popups. This process is a security risk and should be removed from your system. Please see additional details regarding this process.

If this file cannot be removed through this method, try another such as typing 'msconfig' in the run command.

In this case, I might turn on system restore and then carefully eliminate alot of these startup programs. If one gives you any odd results, just revert back to a former system state.
