This is kind of an esoteric question, so here goes...
Recently I installed Windows Vista on my Vaio FE690, and sometimes, after recovering from sleep, the left earbud of my headphone set makes static in every application (music, youtube, even the Windows sound test). A re-sleep usually fixes the problem.
By the way, does anyone know if Vista has more than one stage of sleep? It seems like sleeping the laptop for an hour results in a longer recovery time than sleeping it for a couple of minutes.

Electrostatic discharge I think but I can't give you any other explanation.
