I've always been perplexed by this, but there's thing extra account in my XP that's called Administrator, along with my account (which also has administrator powers). And this "Administrator" account logs in automatically all the time, not my own.

How do I disable it, stop it from logging in, and the delete it? Is it part of the .NET thing? I've read somewhere that it's related somehow.

You can try to disable it and see if that helps. Just make sure your account have Administrative powers on your account before you follow these instructions.

Mmm... That worked. And now all my settings are back to default.. By the way, how do I migrate the FF3 bookmarks from the other profile to this one?

If it "logs in all the time" it means one or more services are using that account to start up. (All services have to login to the OS before they can start up.)

You will need to go to the services control panel and look at each of them and see if they are using the Administrator account. If so, you will need to provide a different account with Admin rights for them to use. Otherwise those services won't be able to run.

If you have already deleted the Admin account, the services will most likely show so very odd looking account name in the login info. Additionally, if you were to decide to add back the Administrator account, those services will NOT automatically use it. You will have to change them to use the NEW administrator account. Such accounts are not referenced internally by name but by a GUID, and the new Administrator account will not have the same GUID as the old one. Hence the need to change each service that used the old administrator account.

How do I check the services, then? I've already disabled the account, though not deleted.

hahahha! That "Let me Google that for you" thing is so brilliant!

Sadly, there's a new problem, whenever I boot XP, it goes into the Windows 2k style login screen and says "Administrator has been disabled". I click OK, then it brings me to the typical XP Welcome Screen and I have to click on my username.

How do I tell it to skip Admin and go straight to my username and login automatically?

You just beeped your recovery console by disabling the administrator account.

start -> run -> control userpasswords2, and you want to select the option to either choose which user autolog's on or you need to enter username/password to log onto the system.
You can re-enable the administrator account, i do it in case i corrupt my profile and need a way to get back in easily to fix/rebuild/or create a new one.

No need to disable the Administrator account,.
    Just do what goofball suggested
First re-enable the Administrator account first
Then, choose which account you want autologin
I had this same problem after some new updates came around a few weeks ago for xp.
drove me crazy for a bit

    Thanks. I'll try that.

Well, that was the inital suggestion posted by Voodoofreak. In this case I'll re-enable it.

EDIT: How do I get it so that I don't remove Administrator and set so that my user account is top priority in log in through control userpasswords2?

it doesn't need to be top priority, unless it's because you want it to be the first option at the login screen? Are you using the traditional XP logon screen or the Windows 2000/NT logon screen?

I don't really mind either login screen. I just want to be able to login automatically with my own account whilst not removing/deleting/disabling the Admin account. Previously, it would just log into the Admin account

then you should be able to do this with the Control userpassword2 command, and by unchecking the option to require a username/password. You will then be prompted to provide the credentials(username/password) of the user you want to have auto-logged on at startup.
