    Hi guys,
I own a Dell Precision M4600 and have the following problem:

    1. When I have my headphones connected and I get a call, the ring tone is played through the speakers.

    2. When I have my headphones connected and listen to music and someone is writing me a message in Skype, the PING sound from skype is played through the speakers and also my currently playing music is playing for 2seconds through the speakers also. This is so annoying....

    How can I STOP this?

    Thanks for your advice.

    Cheers

Hmm strange, I have this problems since weeks and tried so much things and today I found the solution by myself, after posting this thread here :)

So don't know if this is a Windows 7 or a Skype caused problem....anyway here is the solution:

Right click the volume at the taskbar, select playback devices. Right click on headphones and set to DISABLE... et voila it works as expected.
Headphones still working as they should when plugged in and speakers also when headphones plugged out - so this option doesn't really disable your headphones.... *BEEP* Windows!

    Cheers

Right click on the sound icon . Select playback devices. You can choose default or default communications by right clicking on the icon for the one you need to change.

Already tried that in the past, but for me it didn't work as expected. Only changes made in post #2 brought the right functionality back to my system ;)

    I figured out how
    1. go to skype profile
    2. Change sounds
    3. Audio Settings
    4. Go to speakers and put it to earphones

    Hope this helps
