I have a USB drive and a SD card that are encrypted by truecrypt. Every time I insert these into my laptop with Vista HP I get a prompt asking me if I want to format the drive.

Is there a way to suppress this message to format?

I think disabling autorun is one way to get around it...

In XP you can selectively stop autorun on specific drive letters or on USB mass storage devices; not sure how to do it in Vista, but I’m sure you can easily find it out with a simple google search. For XP there was a tool called TweakUI (developed by microsoft), AFAIK there is no such tool for Vista (by Microsoft), but there is something called TweakVI developed by some other company which I think is more like Tweak UI for vista. However, if you look hard enough you should be able to find the proper registry settings, and do it without any 3rd party tools

    Many thanks.

I've found a place on the web with the registry hack to disable autoplay for removable devices.

Im just now finding this thread because I want to do this now as well.

I have a drive I keep my Wii files on so its formatted with a disk type that windows is not familiar with. So when I plug it in every time it asks if I want to format it.

I am afraid one day I will hit "yes" on accident and lose a ton of important files.
