    Hello,

I just installed windows 7 professional x64 on my girlfriend's 4 year old hp dv6000 (AMD processor and go7200 if relevant). It's having a strange issue which I've never seen before. If there are multiple windows open or multiple places in a window where it is possible to type, any keystrokes will be recorded where the cursor is rather than where the typing line is. For instance, as I am typing this, if I were to move the cursor into the "Title" section of my post, this message would be typed in the title. This leads to strange things like web pages being scrolled up and down while forms are being filled, etc.

Does anyone know how to fix this issue? I'm running 7 ultimate x64 and I've never seen anything like it before. I'd appreciate if anyone could help.

    Thanks.

It is normal if the typing occurs where the (flashing) cursor is and not where the mouse pointer is pointing to.

Have you tried with an external keyboard or watch out for the palm on the touchpad when you type?

    cheers ...

Did you install the latest touchpad drivers, how about older ones?
Check the mouse touchpad settings as well, and mouse behavior under Mouse in the Control Panel.

Brushing the touchpad while typing? I've had 'tap-to-click' cause strange behaviors like that before.
