    Hi guys!

A few minutes ago, I had a strange hang up on my computer. I was just browsing the web (IE7), only other programm being open was CpuZ. Then all of a sudden my cursor halted. I thought only the batteries of my mouse were empty, but the touchpad also didn't work. Then I tried to access the Taskmanager to see what's going on, but the system didn't react.

I turned it off and rebooted it and everything was fine again. Does anyone know what could have caused the system halt? In the event log, I can find no entries related to this.
Never had such an issue on XP  I'm just running my antivir, but I dont't think it might have to do with malware.

Normally my PC is running perfectly fast and stable, but in 5 months of use until now, I had 2 BSODs which I couldn't explain and this hang up a few minutes ago. But I have to say that my computer is running 10h+ per day, think this is more than average.

How about your systems, do you also get "mysterious" crashes, hang ups or stuff sometimes? On my last PC with WinXP, I can't remember I had such things in the first 2 years or so (later, it was about 1 BSOD per day... )

    Thanks for your answers!

    Hi!

At mine, the screen didn't go blank, it just freezed... Antivir didn't find anything, as I supposed.

BTW: I've no overclocked or modified hardware.

Every once in a while I'll get a system hang. No apparent reason: no spyware, nothing in the logs, etc., so I assume that it's an "electronic hiccup". Just one of those things that occasionally happens with complex electronic systems. Some known causes of said hiccups: power surges or, one of the wierdest: the time of day when power companies' switch transformers can cause a minor spike that can turnoff/reset equipment (it's usually scheduled for very early morning locally).

I had one a few days ago when I visited a site with a lot of flash: The background loaded, the header loaded, then everything just froze.

Hmm, I've tested my ram thoroughly as once I got this well-knowm parity error, but it appears to be fine...

Do you use IE7? I do and it doesn't seem very stable to me. On my machine it crashes or hangs about 3 or 4 times per week, but normally, it's only the IE and when I terminate it, everything is fine again. Most times, it crashes when I try to close it normally.

things like that will happen more often now when cosmic radiation elevated, increased sun activity and those magnetic field anomalies. Just get comapss on your desk and see how needle gets moved from time to time.
