Maybe your antivirus is blocking it, or a firewall - have you checked those possibilities?

Also, try a different browser - if you are using IE, try Firefox, and Opera is free now, so give that a go if you don't have any success with FF.

Let me know if any of those help you out!

Is it only that site you can't stream music from or is it all of them? Because, if it is only the one site, then that could be the issue. Try going into IE > Internet Options > and set everything to default. See if that helps. If it doesn't work then, try getting another IP address.

Hm. Well, if it is all sites, the changing the IP address won't make a difference....

Are you running the same programs/applications on the notebook that you were on the old computer?

Use Windows Update and get the latest updates - also make sure you have the latest audio drivers.

Let me know how you make out.

windows has a built in firewall, so if you did a fresh intall of windows, then yes, you have a firewall and it's set to the default protection settings.

    you can check there.

also, what do you mean by streaming media won't play? do you mean it's a latency issue? or does it start, but then cut out? do you get an error dialogue box? some more info would be helpful; like the steps you're going through and the results you're getting.
