Okay, so I'm using an HP and I can't stand the mousepad anymore. I, of course, use a USB mouse, and although I was able to find some kind of HP software that disabled the buttons on the mousepad, I haven't managed to figure out how to disable the scrolling part of the mousepad. But, of course, if it was just the errant scrolling of the pointer while typing, there'd be no problem, but, alas, gentle pressing also clicks, so all of a sudden I have highlighted and quickly deleted lines of text, due to my still being in the process of typing, and all sorts of related issues. I have lived with this long enough - does anyone know any kind of software or driver to install to stop this madness!
    Thanks in advance! :)

Some hp touch pads you can double tap a white dot in upper left corner to disable it. (it will then light up orange)
Others a fn + f5 or something like that will do it.

No lights or dots, fn+f5 didn't work, but I happened to find an article through google that told me to disable the device in the mouse control panel settings. The amazing thing is that I have done this before and it didn't work - this time it did.
    All I know is that I don't care because I'm free! :D
