Hi all! Just bought a new Vaio and this problem is very frustrating.
Any advice would be much appreciated.

System: Sony Vaio with windows 8 and nvidia geforce 740m, bought 2 weeks ago.

Problem: After a random period of time (hours or minutes) since windows boots, the clickpad stops accepting taps and any related action (tap and drag, multifinger gestures, tap zones).
Specifically, tapping works 1 out of 10 times while I am trying to tap. Double-tapping works fine every time. Clicking also works fine.
For the first week, the problem did not exist.

    Actions that solve the problem:
    Restarting windows

Actions that do not solve the problem:
1)Reinstalling (tried twice) the latest synaptics driver through sony support.
2)Reviewing/adjusting the various device setting for the Clickpad through mouse properties
3)Turning tapping on and off through device settings
4)Right click in the Synaptics icon in the notification and turning tap to click on and off.
5)Ending the SynTPEnh and SynTPHelper processes through the task manager and rerunning them.

    Related Info:
My guess: A certain gesture causes the problem to appear.
I have now preemptively disabled all multifinger gestures, tap zones, and multifinger clicks
I had customized the Clickpad extensively through the settings, e.g. assigning the two finger click as an Alt-F4
Also, there is a sole instance where the problem disappeared without any action.
Last known action before problem first appears: auto update of nvidia geforce drivers through geforce experience. Although I doubt there is a relationship between the two.

    Any advice?

    hiya,
there are a lot of things to consider with this problem. For starters, have you tried or have you been experimenting with any other drivers lately before the problem started? You didn't disable tap-to-click right? (Sorry if that's insulting, but I just thought I'd ask). before you go too much father, and though it might sound depressing, it might be good to consider getting it in under warranty quickly because you just got it. the longer you keep it, the more likely they might be to not honor your warranty or to assume you did this to yourself somehow.

hey, many thanks for the answer!

    here goes:
    Nope.

no, also, that is mentioned as things #3 and #4 that didn't work.

not at all. you have no clue as to my expertise so it was wise to ask.

After disabling the multifinger gestures, the problem hasn't appeared for days. I don't want to stay a few days without a pc and I doubt they can either locate the problem or substitute my pc for such a trivial issue.

    again, many thanks for answering.
If I find the time to experiment further (turning on and off the multifinger gestures and see it the problem reappears) I will post the results.

    Hi,
As Prostar Computer mentioned, try different drivers, even if they are for different laptops, I have been using the driver version 15.0.24.0 which was released for HP Envy 15 in my Acer Aspire 5610z without any issues, this driver suits my laptop, they all work(some without few functions) but you have to get one suitable for your laptop.
