Im having a bit of a weird issue. It seems as though when I am opening a document in Microsoft word from my drop box it is causing an issue with the synaptics software. im not sure if it is a driver crash as the touchpad still works in itself but multi touch support dies out. I can no longer scroll using two finger in either direction.
I have also noticed the synaptics support software that I usually find in the toolbox (not sure if this is the proper termonlogy) that allows you to adjust settings seems to be crashing when this occurs. Is there a way to simply get this software to run again after the issue has happened? the only executable I see in the driver folder is the setup.exe which I ran once and all it seems to do is reinstall the driver (not sure if I have a duplicate driver being installed??) Also how do I prevent this from happening if the problem persists?

I am not sure how to fix it once it crashes, I would totally remove the current Syn. Software and reinstall. Generally it is best to use what is on the manuf.'s site, but you could also try the software from here Drivers | Synaptics (Note the site was very slow when I tried it but it did work).

Here's the Synaptics driver page: Drivers | Synaptics
Try downloading the latest version for your OS, uninstall the version you currently have installed, then install the version you just downloaded. -
I have tried both of the above but am still seeing the same issue arise

Same thing here, Brand new Lenovo u410, fresh Windows 8 copy, only this happened before not only with word, I can't put my finger on what exactly caused this, but testing it with Word, happens every time.
Opening a word file while SynTPEnh.exe is running just crashes it.
The only working workaround is to restart SynTPEnh, however this becomes very annoying. -
I also have a brand new Lenovo U410 Ultrabook, running Windows 8. I am having the exact same problem. It seems to die at unpredictable times, as well. Sometimes Word crashes the driver, while other times Google Chrome was the only thing running when it crashed. As others have said, it isn't impossible to keep working, but it is annoying not being able to use any multitouch functions.
Any thoughts? -
I think the culprit is Scrybe, try uninstalling it, I found it very erratic.
