This problem only started the other day but I want to know if anyone can help.

If I open Mouse Properties, go to the Device Settings tab and try to click on Settings to launch the Synaptics control panel I get the following message.

An exception occured while trying to run "shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL "C:\WINDOWS\system32\main.cpl","

The touchpad still works as normal and up to a few days ago so did the advanced settings. I have already tried to download the drivers but they did not solve the problem. Any ideas?

Are there any devices not installed correctly according to the control panel? Have you tried removing the device and then reinstalling?

you should get the driver from synaptics instead of asus. Asus blew up their drivers, for example on the a8jm.

Sorry, I should mentioned that I am using a LG S1 laptop. BTW, what do you mean Asus blew up their drivers?
