I have just bought a new Toshiba notebook and previously used active sync with Windows XP to sync my smartphone with my notebook. Since I got my new laptop, I haven't bought outlook (I only used it for contacts and calander function not email). I can't now get my phone to sync with windows calander and contacts. Firstly - is this possible? Secondly, if not then is there a way to transfer the software from my old notebook onto my current notebook (my start up CDs are in a different country!)

    Thanks.

Are you using Windows Mobile Device Centre (WMDC)? ActiveSync doesn't work with Vista. You'll get it from Microsoft's website.

    This is not possible.

Only synchronization with Outlook is supported.

I dont think you will be able to properly install Outlook under Vista without install CD (especially considering the fact your old installation was under XP).

I have downloaded Windows Mobile Device Centre (WMDC) and when I contacted the Microsoft pre-sales team they told me it was possible to sync with options other than outlook, but that they would charge me for the technical support, so I thought I would have a look around. So far I haven't been able to find out what alternative software programs I can use. With regards the transfer of software, there is a program which clones your computer, but the blogs are variable in their support/criticism.
