    Hi,
i have had a sony vaio sz791n/x for about 1.5 years now, i have been using it docked lately through the sony docking station and have it hooked up to a samsung syncmaster 2693 hm via analog, not hdmi.

the picture and all that works fine, but this screen has a rotation function and it doesnt seem to wrok, i have been looking for software and help for one year now, and using the screen in portrait mode would really help me out.

when you physically turn the screen 90 degrees it is supposed to reorient itself into portrait mode, but it doesnt, when i turn it, the screen shows me that it registers its turned to "90 degrees" but nothing after that... picture doesnt change.

i am running vista 32 bit.

    thanks a lot

I have an hp laptop that has the same feature of rotating and it does reorient itself automatically (also has a button to manually do it also). You need to find some kind of software that can manually change it or else it won't. I know you say you can't find it, but it's the only way, UNLESS you have hooked up that syncmaster to another pc and it did work.

Have you tried rotating it, then unpluging the analog cable, then plugging it back in?

    Edit: try this.

    hope it helps

great thanks, i will give ti a try, but i was told it was supposed to reorient automatically upon turning the screen, as it has a sensor, gonna try ur unplugging idea now...its would just be annoying in the long run, as i go back and fourth from different types of stuff....

if you have an Nvidia gpu, just open up the Nvidia Control Panel, and under the "Rotate Display" section, select desired rotation degree and apply. This should def work. A similar option should exist if you have an ATI gpu, just open up Catalyst and proceed accordingly

Nvidia's drivers have universal compatibility since manufacturers use their components. However Nvidia recommends you used you OEM vendor (Sony in your case) because they are proven to work, but those same vendors don't always update their driver (they only do when forced to really).

You can always uninstall these nvidia drivers and download the sony one's off their website if you can any problems as far as compatibility and performance.

the only thing I can think of is it's vista business....... so I'm not sure.

try to renavigate the drivers page, and in the boxes pick 8000m gpu, OS vista 32bit

Edit: I see your sig says Vista Business and XP Pro. I am assuming you have a dual OS boot laptop...... but you are using vista at this time? if you want you can try the XP OS and download the drivers for that, just navigate the same page and choose 8000m gpu, OS XP (bit). However you can only use the rotate feature in XP if it does work.

i am gonna restart my comp once i am done working and maybe irotate will kick in....
    no idea,
u think the driver u posted may not be compaitble with business vista?
how come i have no hot key shortcuts like ctrl+alt+left arrow....
