This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    Syncronizing Files/Folders Laptop->Desktop?

    SyncToy should work if you're looking for something free.

    Look at SmartSync Pro or ViceVersa if you're willing to pay.

    EDIT: Not sure if SyncToy will do it automatically, it wouldn't work when I installed it.

    I synch them manually.

    You can sync files without additional software in WinXP.

    Share your folder as a network share folder on your desktop. Map that folder as a drive on your laptop. Then you can "make it available offline". Then you can right click the folder on your laptop and choose syncronize that folder anytime you want. Or you can schedule the syncronization at boot up, shut off or on a regular schedule.
